Four friends from Melbourne were the lucky winners of Australia’s biggest lottery prize up this day: 59 million dollars. The men, who work together, purchased the ticket at the Reservoir’s Lakeside Newsagency and contributed $30 each. They will now equally share this amazing prize.

“Last night I went outside and saw the stars and said, 'I hope we win tonight,'” one of the winners commented. “Then facing east, I looked at the sky and saw what looked like the Milky Way and I thought that might be luck.” It certainly turned out to be a lucky star for now four millionaire friends.

The man in charge of organizing the syndicate, who requested not to be named, said that buying the ticket was a spur of the moment thing. He also explained that he only checked the Quick Pick ticket after he heard the winner had been purchased in the Reservoir.

“I’m excited the winning ticket was sold at my store,” Dean Schultz, owner of the Lakeside Newsagency said. “It’s just a thrill for us, it’s just as good as winning it for us, it’s just great.”
